4:48 Psychosis
This is the play I am currently rehearsing for. I am working with two
second year directors and three other actresses to bring to life Sarah Kane's
(left) challenging play about suicide. The work is not linier in the
traditional sense of the word, and is more like a collection of poetry or
snapshot's into a person's mind. It is called 4:48 Psychosis as that is
apparently the time in the morning when clarity visits, and 4:49am is when she
(whoever 'she' may be) commits suicide. It is more than a little
disturbing and not what you would call traditional theatre, but more akin to the
In-Yer-Face movement seen in the 1990's. The language is at times graphic
as is understandably the subject matter. I hope the performance will be
both provocative and moving for the audience, I know I have found it such
reading and enacting it.
